The Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA), in coordination with the State Board of Veterans Affairs, is now accepting applications for its 2027 Veterans Well-Being Grant Program, making $2.5 million available to support organizations working to improve the well-being of Alabama’s veterans.

The grant program will award five grants up to $500,000 each to qualified organizations developing, expanding or enhancing services for Alabama’s veteran community. Selected projects will receive funding for a 24-month period, with the possibility of up to $500,000 in additional funding after 12 months. Awards are administered on a reimbursement basis.

“We’re proud to build on the meaningful work taking place across the state to support our veterans and their families,” said ADVA Commissioner Jeff Newton. “By helping these organizations expand their reach and strengthen their impact, we can connect more veterans with the resources and support they need to thrive. These partnerships are essential to building stronger communities and improving the well-being of those who have served our state and nation.”

The Veterans Well-Being Grant Program is designed to build a sustainable network of veteran-specific resources throughout Alabama. Funding will support initiatives that address one or more areas of well-being. Priority will be given to programs that help service members transition successfully to civilian life, expand access to coordinated, veteran-centered care, and strengthen peer support networks. The program also emphasizes reaching veterans who face barriers to services.

Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and Alabama public colleges and universities. More information is available at va.alabama.gov. Applications must be submitted online by December 14, 2026.
